Draft: some details in [brackets] are still missing. Set the LEGAL_* variables before going live.
1. What we store on your device
ContaScope uses only what it needs to work. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| cs_session | Cookie, strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in. It holds a random token (the server stores only a hash of it). It cannot be read by scripts on the page and is sent only to ContaScope. | Up to 30 days, or until you sign out |
| theme | Browser storage (localStorage), preference | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark look, so the page does not flash the wrong colours. | Until you clear your browser data |
2. Why there is no cookie banner
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), consent is not needed for storage that is strictly necessary to give you a service you asked for, such as staying signed in, or that only remembers a choice you made yourself, such as the theme. If we ever add anything else, such as analytics, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
3. Other sites
When you pay, you leave ContaScope and go to Stripe’s secure checkout or billing portal. Stripe sets its own cookies there for payment security and fraud prevention. They are covered by Stripe’s privacy policy, not ours.
4. Controlling storage
You can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie you will not be able to use the app. For how we handle personal data more broadly, see the Privacy Policy, or email contact@contascope.co.uk.
